I know what I did mattered.

I know I stood up to be counted.

I know I am resilient and strong.

I know I provided the best possible care

with the best possible teammates

in the best possible conditions.

I love being an ICU nurse—

I’m celebrating thirty-one years this year.

I know that I have been

privileged to observe and be part of

this once-in-a-lifetime challenge.

I am not an angel.

I am not a hero.

I am doing the job that I have

been trained for.

I am someone who cares and who

wants the best for others.

I hope I have made a difference.
